Easter Ceramics CoursesThrowing with Joe Finch
Posted by Jeff Buttress on 17 March 2010
Aberystwyth Arts Centre
Easter Ceramics CoursesThrowing with Joe Finch
Tues 6th – Sat 10th April10am – 4pm dailyDiscounts available to Arts Centre Course Members!!!
Joe Finch has earned his living making pots for nearly 45 years. He owes this success to many people but particularly his father Ray Finch, of Winchcombe pottery who gave him an excellent training and has continued to be a source of knowledge and inspiration.
All his pots are ‘thrown’ on the wheel and most are decorated with slips before being raw-glazed and once fired in his large wood-fired kiln, where the random effects of the wood ash makes each pot individual. Anyone who has visited the International Ceramics Festival will have seen his beautiful commemorative bowls being unloaded from the kilns there.
Joe believes it is important that skills and knowledge are passed on, and he hopes that by running this course, he may in a small way be able to give to others some benefits from his years of experience.
Note: We are very happy to be able to offer both current and previous members of Arts Centre Ceramics classes a 15% discount for this course.
Both Cath and Roger are ardent admirers of Joe’s ability and how unassuming, but consummately skilful he is. It really is an opportunity not to be missed!!
This means that prices for weekly course members will be £275 full / (£260 conc) instead of £325 (£310 conc)
If you would like to book a place, please contact our Ticket office on 01970 623232, or book online on: www.aberystwythartscentre.co.uk/tickets
If you would like further information on any of the courses, please feel free to contact Cath Sherrell on 01970 622888, email: cxs@aber.ac.uk
